Artist Bio
Kat Hamilton is a Pop Surreal artist based on the Gold Coast, working mainly in mixed media alongside watercolour, graphite, oils and inks. Since pursuing her creative practice full time in 2013, her work has shown in group exhibitions across Australia and the USA, including Hive Gallery in Los Angeles, and is held in private collections across Australia, Canada, Europe, the UK and the USA. She has been a finalist in the Lethbridge 20,000 and the MELT Portrait Prize, and has taught online art lessons since 2020.
Kat's paintings centre on beautiful, strong women, drawing on lowbrow and fantasy influences alongside her own life experiences and cultural background. Working intuitively across raw, emotive subject matter, she's drawn to storytelling and the way audiences connect with and interpret her work.
Workshops with KAT
Kat brings years of teaching experience to her in-person workshops, which range from creative technique to the business side of being an artist. Her Gold Foil Techniques workshop guides you step by step through a wide range of foiling methods on watercolour paper, while Beyond Florals is a relaxed mixed media session exploring floral arrangements through paint, layering and texture.
For artists looking to grow an income from their work, her Facebook Monetisation workshop offers practical advice on turning a page into an income stream. Most sessions need no experience, just curiosity and a willingness to experiment.
