Colour & Connection brings together Elisabeth Brain, Jenny Bridgman, Jean Collins, Joan O’Brien and Judy Spain. Each has their own distinctive approach to painting, and they’re connected by a genuine love of colour, creativity and the process of putting paint to canvas.
Their works explore different subjects, techniques and sources of inspiration, coming together as a vibrant and wonderfully diverse collection. From expressive mark-making and considered compositions to playful explorations of colour, light and form, the exhibition celebrates the many ways painting can help us interpret, respond to and connect with the world around us.
At the heart of the show is the idea that no two artists see in quite the same way. Each brings their own experiences, observations and visual language to the canvas, creating works that are personal and open to interpretation. What connects them isn’t a single style or subject but the joy of painting itself: the experimentation, the discovery and a healthy love of pigment.
There’s something infectious about a group of artists who simply love to paint. Colour & Connection invites you to slow down, look closely and discover the stories within each work.
The artists are delighted to share this collection and hope it sparks curiosity, conversation and perhaps a renewed appreciation for the pleasure of paint.
